I am extremely judicious and choosy about who I let me send me emails. So I am especially honored that you are here. Since time is finite and in order to function in today’s world we have to make quick decisions about what information we will put in front of our faces, I want to tell you a little more about how this email newsletter works.
Sometimes I prepend subject lines with a short word or abbreviation so you can quickly make a judgment about whether a particular newsletter is likely to interest you or not. Our interests will not overlap perfectly. My only goal is to offer efficient, insightful analysis on news, debates, and ideas that are relevant to your work, values, and passions.
Here are the subject-line codes I use:
DEMS: News, debates, and analysis concerning the Democratic Party
GOP: Happenings in the Republican Party
IND: Issues, challenges, and opportunities for Independent candidates or the Independent movement
MONEY: Discussions about the role of money in politics
REFORM: Information, advocacy, and debates about reforming electoral systems, government functioning and accountability, and political processes and institutions more generally
NEWS: Commentary and analysis on breaking news
SCOOP: News that I report exclusively or before anyone else
POD: New podcast episode
DIED: Reflections on some noteworthy departed
It’s free to sign up for occasional newsletters that feature analysis of major issues in politics and culture. Paid subscribers receive instant access to premium content, including inside scoops, thought-provoking essays, and the most controversial Thought Crimes.
